Bryston makes turntable!

Bryston-BLP-1

Bryston has joined the analogue revolution and released the first turntable to bear their mark. Custom made by GoldNote in Italy with a Bryston designed and built power supply the BLP-1 is a mass loaded, rigid plinth design with a titanium tonearm and tungsten bearings, 35mm thick Delrin platter, modular bearing system and separate power supply with pitch control.

The BLP-1 is a belt drive design with a PWM (pulse width modulation) synchronous motor and runs a mat-less platter on carbon-steel and bronze bearing. Apparently “Unique vented plinth both eliminates platter turbulence and prevents vibration from reaching the bearing”. The tonearm consists of a seven segment arm tube with integrated headshell that is “virtually immune to cantilever borne vibration.” Usefully the BLP-1 also offers a dustcover, a much underrated feature on high end turntables. The BLP-1 will be distributed in the UK by PMC but no arrival date or price has been given as yet.
